Re: H.323-SIP SBC with T.38 pass-through support

To be entirely honest, I've never seen an open source SBC product that performed H.323/SIP interworking. There are several commercial products, including ones from Cisco and Acme Packet.

I would be interested to know if there are any, though.

Avaya, Nortel, and Skype

Folks, For those of us in the industry, it is hard to ignore the fact that Avaya, Nortel's enterprise telephony business, and Skype will all be controlled (directly or indirectly) by the investment firm Silver Lake. See this: http://www.dailypayload.com/content/3274 Do you think they plan to play st...

Open Source Projects

I am curious: would people benefit from a sub-forum under the "Product Development and Deployment" section that covers the various open source projects? For example, have a forum that reads "Open Source Projects" and then when you click on that, it would lead you to a set of additional forums, one f...

Re: CISCO GK Opinions

Guy, It's certainly doable, but I suppose the opinion of good or bad depends on the kinds of features or functionality you want to get out of the Gatekeeper. Here's an old presentation, but perhaps still somewhat useful: http://www.vide.net/conferences/spr2002/presentations/kirby.ppt If you dig arou...

Re: IM Federators or aggregators

I am not personally familiar with their product, but it looks like one of the several "all-in-one" clients that connect to a multiplicty of networks simultaneously. I don't think there is any real magic in that, though there's certainly work required to interface with all of those various networks.

Re: Need a simulator...

Pradeep,

As people point them out to us, we've been listing such tools here:
http://www.packetizer.com/ipmc/diagnostics/testtools/

If there are others that we should have on the list, we would be happy to add them.

H.323 Version 7 nearing approval in the ITU

Folks, The ITU is planning to approve H.323v7 in November. There are several other H.323-related documents currently in development scheduled for approval in November. Some may be ready, but some may be delayed. The bottom line, though, is that there is definitely active progress. See the current do...

Re: XMPP federation

Thanks stpeter & paul.. So With a SIP to XMPP gateway which federates with gtalk server I can talk to a gtalk user ? regards Mahesh In theory, yes. I can federate between Packetizer's XMPP server (running OpenFire) and GoogleTalk's servers without any problem at all. So, assuming that the SIP/XMPP ...

Re: Video Conference training

Some training courses were offered through Internet2. Here's a link: http://www.internet2.edu/workshops/commons/ Nothing is listed as coming up, but perhaps contact the folks via the email link at the bottom to see if something is planned. I also found this site, though I've not personally interacte...

Re: XMPP federation

One company that provides hosted XMPP services is ClearText. I am not familiar with the company, but I assume that is the kind of service you're seeking?

I expect there will be more such companies, and perhaps there are already.
