Hi !

I have Linux Fedora 23 with KDE Plasma 5. I install AES Crypt with the packet "GUI-3.10-Linux-x86_64-Install.tgz". When I want encrypt a file, with GUI or command-line, I have this message : Error in iconv_open: Invalid argument.

Everyone can help me to resolve this issue ?

Thanks !

Kipawa

I am also running AESCrypt on Arch Linux with Plasma 5, and I see the same problem. Could we get this issue looked at? Do I just need to bulid it from source?

Thanks!

Actually, scratch my last post. Installing the package from the AUR works.

There's a problem with the GUI version of AES Crypt on Linux. I'll need to investigate that.

There is also a problem with the command-line version when using non-ASCII characters.

Both used to work. Now they don't. Looks like something in Linux changed related to iconv*(), because the AES Crypt code hasn't changed in quite a while, particularly in the character conversion code.

This should be addressed with the 3.11 release for Linux. Give it a try and let me know if you still see issues.

This error still exists in version 3.11 with Linux. Are there any work arounds?

You're seeing an "iconv_open: invalid argument" error? If so, what version of Linux are you using? I'll try to install the exact same release and reproduce the problem.

Also, are you using the GUI or command-line version?

What steps are you following where you see this error?
