AES Crypt issue on linux system

Post by jpa_french user » Mon Nov 07, 2016 10:59 am

First of all, as a French guy, I apologize for my poor English.
I have installed AES Crypt on a dual boot PC: one on Linux (Ubuntu 16.04 LTS) and Windows10, both in 64 bits.
I have installed Crypt4All as well on Android devices (2 with Android 4 and 1 with Android 5).
I have done that in order to be able to crypt and decrypt files in any system and from one to another as well.
It works pretty well in Android, Windows and cross these 2 systems.
With the Linux version I only can crypt and decrypt in this system. For instance, when I try to decrypt with Crypt4all I get a message saying that the file is corrupted or the password is not the right one. It's the same issue from linux to Windows both ways.
I have tried to reinstall AES Crypt on Linux, one time with the 64 bits release (PC has a 64 bits processor) and another time with the 32 bits release just in case. I have got the same issue both cases.
2 or 3 months ago, I had installed AES Crypt on Linux and Windows and all the exchanges between both systems and Android were perfectly working.
Is there an issue which is linked to a new release of AES Crypt for Linux ?
Could you help me, please ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

There was an issue with non-ASCII passwords that I just fixed in the latest version (3.11). What version do you have installed? You can find out by typing "aescrypt -v" at the command line.
