I installed AEScypt on Windows 8.1. The installation was successful and I can run aescrypt from a command shell. However it does not show up as a shell extension. I.E. When I right click on a file, there is no AEScrypt option.
I just received the WIndows 8.1 system and assume it's default configuration would allow programs like AEScrypt to configure as a shell extension.

It sounds like you might have installed the 32-bit version on a 64-bit system.
What you'll need to do is uninstall the current version, reboot the machine (yeah, necessary evil), and then install the 64-bit version.
