Is a license now required for version 4.1.0

Post by GutPinch »

Hello,

I am using Mint Linux 22 and had Aescrypt Gui working for several months. Now I am getting the below error message about needing a license. Are licenses required now?

Yes. Starting with version 4.0, AES Crypt is sold using a perpetual license model. Once purchased, it's good forever. There are no subscription fees or upgrade fees.

AES Crypt 4.0 was a complete re-write with a number of security and performance improvement. You can read some of the highlights here at these two posts:

Going forward, it is continually being improved. The next release will a have a number of minor improvements, with most of the effort on improving the UI on Mac.
